Money Market Facilities (Term Loan Facilities and Revolving Credit Facilities)

Money Market loans are borrowing facilities with maturity dates longer than 12 months, although this may be varied depending on the specific requirement. These facilities may be provided on a committed (ie guaranteed availability) or an uncommitted (availability not guaranteed) depending on the business need / use. Interest rates on such facilities are based on an agreed margin above the money market rate for the relevant currency e.g. EURIBOR / LIBOR etc. The rate applies for the maturity period chosen - this can range from overnight up to 12 months.

Facilities can be denominated in a single currency or have multicurrency options allowing the user to use the loan in a number of currencies. Money Market facilities may be provided on either a Term Loan or Revolving Credit Facility basis.

Term loans are used to finance longer-term requirements - e.g., the purchase of assets or other capital items. This allows you to pay for an asset over its expected useful life.

The term of the facility is normally based on the use for which it is intended and the cashflow of the borrower with typical maturities in the 5 - 7 year range, although a longer term may be agreed. Repayment terms are agreed when the loan is approved and are tailored to meet individual customer requirements - this can include quarterly / semi-annual / annual repayments - linked to an individual company's cashflow profile. Interest Rates can be variable or fixed and the facilities can be denominated on a single or multi currency basis.

Revolving Credit Facilities are designed to fund longer term but fluctuating cash requirements, such as core or seasonal working capital requirements. The facility can be drawn down in full or part-drawn, repaid and redrawn as required throughout the term of the facility, which generally ranges from 1 to 5 years.

Facilities can be committed or uncommitted depending on the certainty of requirement and may also be single or multi-currency denominated. Facilities are structured to suit the borrower's particular requirements. Interest Rates are variable but are 'fixed' for the duration of each utilisation of the facility.
